In order to inform the public on issues related to environmental protection, the State Institution "Braslav Lakes National Park" is holding a public discussion of the draft Management Plan (updated) of the Braslav Lakes National Park.

Justification for the need to adopt a management plan:

Updating the management plan of the Braslav Lakes National Park is provided for by Article 32 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Specially Protected Natural Areas" dated November 15, 2018 No. 150-Z (hereinafter referred to as the Law "On Protected Natural Areas"); Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated February 19, 2021 No. 99 "On the State Program "Environmental Protection and Sustainable Use of Natural Resources" for 2021-2025"; Resolution of the Scientific and Technical Council of the State Nature Conservation Institution "Braslav Lakes National Park" No. 2 dated March 5, 2021. The management plan was developed with the aim of comprehensively regulating the natural and (or) anthropogenic processes occurring in the protected area that impact valuable natural complexes and objects, carrying out significant measures to protect and use the protected area (natural objects and resources), and managing the protected area.

from 08.11.2021 to 08.12.2021 inclusive.

Information on the regulatory legal act in accordance with which public discussions are conducted:

Regulation on the procedure for organizing and conducting public discussions of draft environmentally significant decisions, environmental reports on strategic environmental assessment, reports on environmental impact assessment, and taking into account adopted environmentally significant decisions, approved by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated June 14, 2016 No. 458.

Information on the nature of the possible environmentally significant decision:

The long-term objectives of the management plan (updated) are: preservation and maintenance in its natural form of the unique natural complex of the national park as a standard of natural landscapes and a repository of the genetic fund of flora and fauna of the Belarusian Lakeland; development of scientific research of natural complexes and historical and cultural heritage of the national park; development of recreational and tourist activities on a sustainable basis, development of ecological and green tourism; dissemination of information and knowledge about the national park, formation of environmental awareness and careful attitude to nature among stakeholders, including local residents and visitors to the national park. The set long-term objectives can be achieved by solving the problems and implementing the activities envisaged by the management plan. The goals, objectives and activities of the Management Plan of the Braslav Lakes National Park cover, among other things, swamps and wetlands subject to protection, located both on the territory of the national park and in its buffer zone. Activities in swamps include both protection and rehabilitation work of wetlands (restoration of the hydrological regime, reclamation of depleted peatlands).

The management plan is valid for 20 years and is updated and revised every 5 years.
